Part 1
The Complete Woman !

Meeting Israel was the best thing that happened to my life, I have never known anyone so gentle and perfect.

Every woman prays for a Godfearing, gentle and calm man, that was also my prayer and God gave me the best of all. Infact, God added other qualities in him like nice, loving, caring, everything good is what you can use to describe Israel.

I remember the first day we met. It was on a Sunday. I had just finished my youth service and I came home after one year. Isreal was not a member of the church before I travelled and so when the choir was called and he stood up I was surprised to see a new face.

I am a member of the choir, but not very active because according to them I have a manly voice and whenever I sing they end up laughing and so I just sit and sing at the back of the choir. But my man voice made me well known in the choir.

It was Israel and sister Marvis that took the solo that day. As they sang, I felt like I was in heaven, the whole church was carried away by the Holy Spirit as there was speaking of tongues all over the church.

At the end of the service, Pastor George welcomed me back from service and many of the members came to congratulate me and shake my hands. The choir members also came one after the other to shake hands with me. Isaiah also came with them.

Isaiah: congratulations ma, and welcome back from service.

Me: Thank you so much. It was a good song you did with Sister Marvis and your voice was also very wonderful.

Isaiah: (bowing down to show appreciation) Thank you so much ma’am. I also heard you are a member of the choir.

Me: Yes I am

Isaiah: That’s good. It means we will be seeing you on Wednesday during rehearsals.

Me: By the grace of God.

Just then Sister Marvis rushed unto us and held unto Isaiah as if he were her husband.

Marvis: Here you are, I’ve been looking around for you. (Then she turned and looked at me) I can see you have met Sister Daniella.

Isaiah: (to me) so that is your name. Daniella!

Me: Yes! that’s me.

Isaiah: Lovely name you’ve got. I am Isaiah (he stretched his hand for a hand shake,/but Sister Marvis was quick to disengage them and separate their hands.)

Marvis: That’s OK, Daniella welcome back. Isaiah let’s go.

Isaiah: Go where? Are we going same direction?

The look on Marvis’s face showed anger, O I was quick to understand so I quickly stepped forward.

Me: Its okay. You can go, I am going anyway.

Isaiah: Its alright, hope I’d be seeing you during rehearsals

Me: Hopefully sir (I said smiling), bye Marvis

Marvis: Bye Dani.

After I left I saw Marvis talking with Isaiah. I could tell she was scolding him for embarrassing her like that in front of me. But I didnt care, I just smiled and walked away. There was a lot of things on my mind and that was were my focus was.

During the next rehearsal, I was opportuned to solo a song. Most of the choir members laughed at my voice and called me a man, but I cared less because I was used to it, but brother Isaiah thought otherwise, he told me he liked my voice and would want me to do a song with him on one of the albums he was planning to release. I agreed and so after rehearsal we started working on the song.

We finished quiet late, all this while, Sister Marvis was patiently waiting for Isaiah. Even though he repeatedly told her to go but she insisted on staying back. At the end of the practice, they went home together and I went my own way. When I got home I was quite exhausted. I hurriedly had a quick bath and meal and fell on my bed to sleep.

Just as I was dozing off, I heard my phone ring. I lazily picked the call wondering who was calling at such an odd time.

Me: Hello

Caller: Sister Dani, are you already sleeping?

Me: Yes! Please who is this?

Caller: So you don’t have my number?

Me: Am sorry but I don’t. Please who am I talking with.

Caller: Its me Marvis.

Me: Oh! Sister Marvis, what is it? How come you are calling at this time

Is all well?

Marvis: All is well o Sister Dani I just called so I could give you a friendly and a sisterly advice.

Me: Okay! What is it then?

Marvis: Its really none of my business sha o, but I just felt I should let you know so that it won’t be like I knew and didnt warn you.

Me: Sister Marvis, what is it,? You’ve not said anything.

Marvis: Its nothing sha o, its just about Brother Isaiah.

Me: What about Brother Isaiah?

Marvis: Nothing really, its just that I have seen how you two are getting close and I just felt I should let you know the reason he came to our church.

Me: And what can that be?

Marvis: We heard that Bro Isaiah was sleeping with his church girls, he even got two of them pregnant and denied them. I also heard that he even has a daughter who is three years old. He denied her and the mother and when the truth about his escapades started coming out, he fled the town and came to our town and our church.

Me: So why are you telling me this?

Marvis: Nothing o, I just saw that the two of you are getting close and I dont want him to repeat what he did in his former church here that’s why I decided to tell you.

Me: Are the two of you not close?

Marvis: Em, we are close but I know he can’t do such rubbish with me and that is why I said I should tell you.

Me: So he can’t try such rubbish with you, but he can try it with me right?

Marvis: Its not like that. I’m just telling you so that you will be aware in case he tries to tell you lies and decieve you.

Me: Thank you sister Marvis, I have heard you.

Marvis: I hope you are not angry o, I just wanted to tell you as a friend and sister in the Lord.

Me: Oh that’s so nice of you, my sister in the Lord. Thank you so much.

Marvis could sense from my voice that I was irritated by her call and so she quickly ended the call. I took a second look at my phone before shaking my head and dropping it on the bed beside me. I still found it funny that sister Marvis actually called me to tell me all of those rubbish. I just shook my head and laid on my bed. I didnt know when sleep carried me away.

As the months went by, Isaiah and I became closer, expecially after we released his second album where he featured me. The song sold like wild fire. We started getting invitations from one church to the other, we started going for music concerts.

I was also happy, because I was making money from this. Since I graduated and finished my youth service there was no job coning forth. All the companies where I had submitted my CV none has called me back and so going on this musical tour with Isaiah was actually a blessing for me.

Our travelling from one church to the other from one town to the other made us closer. We became close that feelings started creeping in. Whenever those feelings came I was quick to knock them off because in as much as I was quick to push Marvis’s words away I never forgot them.

One evening after our ministration in one of the big churches at Abuja, we went back to our hotel and as we ate and drank at the bar. Isaiah suddenly stopped and held my hand.

Isaiah: Daniella, you’ve been a blessing to my life, since you joined my music I have experienced the kind of growth that I have never imagined. Who would have thought that I will minister in front of great men and women around Nigeria.

Me: Isaiah it’s not me but God at work. All glory to his name. And thank you for believing in me. Everyone always laughed whenever I sang because they said I have a man’s voice but you didnt laugh, you saw something I didnt see and you worked with it and here we are. (I started laughing, but I looked at Israel and he wasn’t smiling)

Isaiah: Ella, you’ve been my Blessing, God has used you to change my life and story, I do not want it to end, I do not want the blessing to seize.

Me: How do you mean? God’s blessing does not seize.

Isaiah: I know, but the truth is one day you will get married and then you won’t be able to travel with me as you are now. You are only able to do it because you are still single. No man will allow his wife travel with another man all the time in the name of singing or business.

Me: That’s true. But you have nothing to fear. Because God will give me a man who will understand that I want to use my voice to glorify Him.

Isaiah: That’s possible but what if he doesn’t understand

Me: (laughing), why is that even an issue right now. When we get to that bridge we will cross it. For now let’s focus on our music tomorrow and leave the future till it comes.

Isaiah: (even more serious) Ella, I do not want to wait till then, I do not want to have to face such trials. (he goes on his knees) Ella please be mine. Marry me so that I won’t have to worry about anything, so that you will be with me forever. Please Ella!

I was shocked and surprised at the same time, I looked at Israel as if I didnt know who he was. Although I had strong feelings for him but I was not ready to just jump into his arms. Suddenly I felt anger build up in me. I quickly snatched my hand away from him.

Me: I see, you are asking me to marry you because of your selfish interest. So its true, all they said about you is true.

Isaiah: What are you talking about?

Me: You are asking me to marry you because you want me to always be available for you whenever you need me to travel with, so that you can use me for your musical career’. What kind of a person are you?

Isaiah: No no no don’t get me wrong? How can you say that?

Me: How can I not say that? You don’t want anyone stopping me when you need me and that is enough reason to marry me. Isn’t it Israel.

Isaiah: Why are you talking like this? Am sorry I brought it out like that I just didnt know how else to express myself. Over the time I have fallen in love with you and that’s the reason I want to marry you nothing else.

I started clapping for him

Me: Clap for yourself. So this is it, this is the line you used on the four of them.

Isaiah: Four of who?

Me: The four girls you slept with, the two you got pregnant. The one you abandoned with your child. This is the line you used on them right?

Isaiah: (standing up) I beg your pardon. What in heavens name are you talking about.

Me: Brother Isaiah, please, I do not want us to cause a scene here. Thanks for your proposal but am not interested please. Let’s just be the way we are please.

Isaiah: (feeling hurt) You would have simply said that instead of bringing up hurtful stories about me. Excuse me! (He turns and walks away)

Me: Brother Isaiah, Brother Isaiah, (I tried to stop him but he didnt look back. He just walked off. I could see he was really hurt by my statement. Then I began to winder if what I did was wrong or right).

The next morning I waited for Isaiah to come so we can have our normal rehearsal before the program would start but I didnt see him, I waited for some time before I decided to call him. I called and called but he wouldn’t pick my call. Then I sent him a text.

”Brother Isaiah hi, where are you? Please pick my calls”

After the text was sent, for the next 15 minutes I waited but no reply so I sent another one. ”Ain’t we rehearsing today? What about the program?” I waited for another 30minutes and still no reply. I became angry and just went to my room.

All through the day I didn’t hear from Isaiah. In the evening of that day, the program started. I had given up that we won’t be singing and so I just sat like other invitees in the congregation. And then suddenly the pastor announced our names and invited us to the altar. I put my head face ground because I didnt want anyone to know I am the one the pastor was inviting. And just then I saw a hand stretched towards me, I raised my head up and saw him, with the sweetest smile ever.

Isaiah: Are you ready? Let’s go.

I stood and looked at him like an image, and then I followed him behind. And we did that song together.

”You are the love of my life”

”You mean more than this world to me”

”I won’t trade you for silver or gold”

”You are my everything”

We sang for God, and as we sang I watched you so closely, I saw the passion you put into the song, I saw how deeply you meant every word you sang. I saw you truly loved God and at that instant I fell in love with you. I decided I was wrong to just conclude on you without hearing from you.

And so after the ministration, and the entire program, you turned and walked away from me, but I wouldn’t let you go. I held your hands and stopped you.

Me: Am sorry Isaiah, please don’t walk away from me.

Isaiah: Its okay Daniella, you made your point yesterday that we are and can only be singing partners. I understand and respect your decision. I will not force you to love me just as I do you. But I will have to keep my distance from you, so that I can teach my heart not to love you the way I do.

Me: Please stop talking like that. I said I am sorry.

Isaiah: Dani trust me, it’s okay.

Me: And since when do you now refer to me as Dani. Only my friends call me that.

Isaiah: So what am I? Am I not your friend?

Me: Isaiah look, I am sorry, I was quick to judge you and I am sorry. There are things I heard about you, that I would have verified from you but I didn’t just believed them. And I am sorry.

Isaiah: What things did you hear?

Me: I heard that you are a chronic womaniser, and that you impregnated some girls, that you even have a child out of wedlock.

Isaiah burst out laughing and I just stood there watching him stupidly. I couldn’t lay my hands on what was funny.

Isaiah: I just want to ask you one question. At least you’ve known me for some time now. How many girls have you seen me with? And do I strike you as a womaniser?

At this point I felt stupid before him because he was telling the truth. Apart from me and some of the choir sisters, Israel barely spoke to ladies. And the few sisters he speaks to they even complain that he is a snob. I immediately understood that everything I heard about him was a lie. But why would Marvis tell such a lie to me?
