Bolanle Raheem: Policeman charged with k!ll!ng a [email protected] lawyer enters a not-gu!lty [email protected]

Drambi Vandi, the policeman charged with k!ll!ng [email protected] lawyer Raheem Bolanle, has entered a not gu!lty plea.

On Monday, January 16, 2023, Vandi appeared before the Lagos State High Court and was charged with murder on one count.

The officer entered a not gu!lty plea to the murder charge after hearing the charge sheet read to him.

Recall that Vandi, who was assigned to the Ajiwe police division in the state’s Ajah region, allegedly sh0t Bolanle on Sunday, December 25, 2022. Bolanle was reportedly four months [email protected] at the time.

The cop is accused of k!l!ing the [email protected] at the Ajah Under Bridge while she was returning from a Christmas trip with her family.

The incident rekindled discussions about police vi0lence in Nigeria, and the Nigeria Police Force received [email protected] criticism for days afterward.

Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), then suggested that Vandi be suspended without delay.

The Lagos State Government charged Vandi with one count of unlawful k!ll!ng on Friday, December 30, 2022, following the Police Service Commission’s (PSC) acceptance of his suspension.

He was then kept in custody at the Ikoyi detention facility.
