Biography of Minister Dunsin Oyekan


Minister Dunsin Oyekan, popularly known as The Eagle, is a renowned Worshiper, Guitarist, Songwriter, Multi-instrumentalist, Father, Pastor, and Convener of Code Red Worship Experience. He has over 50 powerful and inspiring songs to his credit.

Dunsin Oyekan was born on Monday, the 5th of November, 1984 in Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. A native of Ilorin, he grew up as the only son of his parents.

His father, Pastor Gbadebo Oyekan was one of the initiators of Pentecostal move in the nation and also the leader of “Spiritual Singers”, a music group in Ilorin that focused on experiencing God through worship.

His father, Pastor Gbadebo Oyekan was the General Overseer of Evangelical Baptist Church and he had a major influence on Minister Dunsin Oyekan’s choice of music, songwriting and playing of instruments. In fact, he wanted him to study Music in the University, but it couldn’t become a reality.

Dunsin Oyekan started playing guitar at age 10. Being a lover Gospel music, Dunsin Oyekan’s father usually took him to musical concerts and other related christian events.

He also joined the church choir. When he was much younger, his father said prophetically that He could see the dead coming back to life through him.

His father died on Monday, the 30th of March, 2015 – an experience he described as the most excruciating event in his life. His mother is still alive at the time of this compilation.

Dunsin Oyekan attended the Airforce Nursery and Primary School, Ilorin, and then proceeded to the prestigious Federal Government College (FGC), Ilorin. He completed his secondary education at the Baptist Model High School, Ilorin.

He later gained admission into the University of Ilorin, Ilorin where he graduated as an Industrial Chemist. In 2014, God called him fully into the worship ministry.

Dunsin Oyekan was a one-time Music Director (MD) of the Avalanche of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) in Ilorin, Kwara State. He currently acknowledges Dr. Pastor Paul Idoko Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis Int’l Gospel Centre, Worldwide as his spiritual father. They have both shared platforms at various times.

He has several platforms with which he reaches out with the Gospel. He is the organizer of Healing Room Worship Event, the Code Red Worship Concert/Experience, the Victory Tour, the Outpouring and many other musical concerts which takes place annually.

The Code Red Worship Experience is a bi-annual prophetic worship event and notable gathering where men encounter the outpouring of God’s Spirit in worship.

Dunsin Oyekan got married to his classmate at the University of Ilorin, Adedoyin on the 2nd of February, 2013.

The marriage is blessed with two lovely children. Unfortunately, his wife, Adedoyin Oyekan died on Saturday, 18th of May, 2019. Dunsin Oyekan has taken this great shock in good faith trusting God for a better future.

Minister Dunsin Oyekan is a music minister called to spread the gospel through worship as God moves across the earth in these times. Specifically, his ministry is assigned to stir revival through worship according to the words of the Lord in Psalms 22:27-28

Dunsin is a Nigerian worshipper who uses his gift in service to God. He began playing the guitar at age 10, and his passion is worshipping Jesus and leading others closer to Him through music.

Dunsin has birthed revelation songs, sang in choirs, and served as a music director for over two decades. He is a full-time worshipper who has released three albums.

One unique feature of Dunsin Oyekan’s songs is the fact that all tracks are inspired by the power of the gospel and the beauty of an intimate relationship with God. His musical releases have a strange way to help you experience intimacy with God in an atmosphere of worship.

Minster Dunsin Oyekan’s life is dedicated to bringing the God dimension into the world through sounds imparted to him by the Holy Spirit. His passion is worshipping Jesus and leading others closer to Him through music. For over two decades, he has birthed revelationary songs, sang in choirs, and served as a music director. He is a full-time worshipper who has released three albums — ‘Code Red’, ‘Kingdom Now’, and ‘The Gospel of the Kingdom’.

His desire is to fill the atmosphere with the heart of God, witness God, and stir revival platformed on the power and wisdom of God. He does this through singing, playing the keyboard and guitar, and teaching the word of God.

He has several songs to his credit. His debut album was “Code Red” released in the year 2016, and had 14 tracks. Again in the year 2019, he released another album named “Kingdom Now” with 20 tracks. Thus far, he has released over thirty songs, including the popular Na You, which featured Kim Burrell, an American gospel singer and performed at The Experience Concert.

Minister Dunsin has ministered on the same stage with notable musicians including Tasha Cobbs, Kurt Carr, Don Moen, Byron Cage, Tye Tribbett, William Murphy, Kim Burrell, Sinach, Tasha Page-Lockhart, Frank Edwards, and Freke Umoh. In 2020, Ynaija named him one of the 100 Most Influential People in Christian Ministry in Nigeria. Also, Imole De was nominated for Song of Excellence at the Africa Gospel Music and Media Awards (AGMMA) – 2019.
